PACCAR Summer 2024 Internship

Published:

Supervisors: Gavin Coelho

Brief: During my internship at PACCAR Inc, I designed, prototyped, and tested automation components, including a tool changer for robotics and a self-aligning mechanism for automated system connections. I also worked on embedded programming and control system integration to automate key processes. This project involved collaboration with my team to ensure design feasibility and optimize system performance.

Role: Advaned Mobility Tech Engineering Intern

Contribution:
- Completed the 3D CAD design, prototyping, and testing of a fully functional robotic tool changer, ensuring seamless operation, mechanical reliability, and robust integration with automated systems.
- Designed, prototyped, and tested a self-aligning mechanism for automatic docking and connection of critical systems in an industrial application, achieving precise alignment and reliable performance in dynamic environments.
- Collaborated with my manager to refine design concepts, validate technical feasibility, and complete the bill of materials for industry-grade components, ensuring successful execution of the project.
- Developed embedded programming and integrated control systems, utilizing advanced control techniques to automate a key industrial process, significantly enhancing efficiency and operational precision.

I was presenting my final presentation and gave a demo to PACCAR Innovation Center.
